Raising the Roof !
Historic Day Nursery Roof Restoration Project

The Historic Day Nursery was build in 1922. The original slate roof remained in place for over 65 hears. In the mid-1980s, the slate began to disintegrate and was replaced with asphalt shingles, the best option at the time. In 2007, CNC's Board of Directors approved a proposal to restore the roof to its original state, both in its appearance and historical integrity, so that it will last at least another half century.

The total project is expected to cost $524,000. Fundraising is well underway, thanks to a $200,000 matching grant from the Colorado Historical Society's State Historical Fund. This grant gives us the opportunity to preserve a one-of-a-kind treasure for the people of Colorado Springs.

CNC now seeks to raise the additional $324,000 in matching funds through grants, individual and corporate donation.

Call the CNC at 719-632-1754, Ext. 23, for more information about this project, serving on the committee, or donations.
